Description

Job Summary: Responsible for constructing project components from technical drawings and assembling multiple components into larger, multi-faceted exhibits. Fabricates various types of products using tools, machines, and their own hands.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Able to read and duplicate prints
  • Ability to cut and fit pieces to tight tolerances
  • Able to weld using mig/tig machines. Welds must be aesthetically pleasing.
  • Able to work with numerous substrates (aluminum, steel, composites, acrylic etc.)
  • Must have own tools
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to do finish work
  • Ability to take on projects small or large from start to finish
  • Self-motivated and works without much supervision
  • Ability to solve problems as they arrive as majority of work is one-off custom jobs
  • Ability to use a variety of shop tools, saws, grinders, air tools etc.…
  • Ability to be versatile in other fields when need be (carpentry/electrical)
  • Able to work 60+ hours per week when needed

Required Qualifications:

            Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years in Fabrication
  • Certified Welder

Preferred:

  • Bachelor or Associate’s degree in Welding and Fabricating

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Able to do general labor out of job description when needed
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and work with minimum supervision
  • Keep a clean work environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Keen understanding of the product positioning, completive landscape, key benefits and the client’s needs
  • Ability to understand the level of effort required to achieve results
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility as priorities and timelines can shift considerably and frequently

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • Stand for 8 hours or more
  • Turn the head, neck, and shoulders to both the right and left
  • Use the arms and legs to lift equipment and/or machinery
  • Perform tasks that require adequate manual dexterity in the use of keyboards and keypads, handle or touch objects or controls
  • Talk and listen
  • Walk
  • Stand
  • Reach above shoulders
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Climb a ladder and/or steps to work at a height of approximately 13 feet above the ground
  • Work in close/confined spaces
  • Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Specific hearing requirements of this job include ability to listen to telephone conversations as well as face-to-face conversations.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud
  • Work beyond a 40-hour workweek is required

Equipment and Tools Utilized:

Arc Welder, TIG torches, Grinder, Arc cutter, Plasma cutter, Gloves and helmet, Fasteners, various angle grinder discs, Throat-less Sheer, Wire cutters. This is not a complete list of equipment and tools you may or may not be required to use.
