Description

The Tour Manager/Field Operator is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management and event coordination of specifically designed project(s). Provides safe and courteous operation of assigned transports including necessary road maintenance and compliance with all DOT regulations. Transports all equipment and supplies to and from the project venue. Installs and dismantles all elements of the event presentation according to schedule in a safe manner. Provides timely and accurate reporting of all event results, expenses, and recommendations for changes/improvement. Builds and maintains effective relationships internally and with client representatives. May oversee contract staff to ensure quality execution of the program. Accountable for ensuring that all current assignments are executed in a timely, professional, and profitable manner that exceeds client expectations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be in compliance with all applicable DOT standards
  • Provide safe and courteous transportation for exhibit and chase vehicles, equipment, and supplies
  • Accurately maintain all required records and reports, including DOT logs and management reports
  • Maintain equipment fuel supplies and perform 1st echelon equipment repairs
  • Perform exhibit repairs to keep exhibit operational while on tour
  • Represent the client’s point-of-view at each event and recommend changes/improvements, as appropriate
  • Professionally interacts directly with the client to manage day-to-day business regarding assigned project(s)
  • Using the Special Event Worksheet, provide event coordination, make travel arrangements, and obtain all approvals, permits, and/or passes to ensure that each activity can be presented as planned
  • Collaborate with other team members to execute assignments in a timely, professional, and profitable manner
  • Attach and detach loads and/or set ups properly
  • Load and Unload props and materials from trucks
  • Set up and break down necessary equipment including lighting, props, video, sound, etc.
  • Fabricate job-specific systems as needed
  • Assist carpenters build and install set-up
  • Maintain control and maneuver loads through difficult and confined spaces

Other Important Duties:

  • Obtain, train, and manage contract labor, if needed
  • Keep a clean work environment
  • Must be willing to do general labor out of job description when needed
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • CDL Class A License Preferred
  • Operate a Forklift Preferred
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Current medical card or the ability to obtain one
  • 3+ years of experience in Field operations
  • Ability to operate a vehicle without the use of a diversion program

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills to manage events
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility as priorities and timelines can shift considerably and frequently
  • Reliable and hardworking, with a team-player attitude
  • Must be self-motivated and work without much supervision
  • Bilingual a plus

 

Essential Physical Functions:

  • The ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Sit for 8 hours or more
  • Turn the head, neck, and shoulders to both the right and left
  • Use the arms and legs to drive a manual shift vehicle
  • Perform tasks that require adequate manual dexterity in the use of keyboards and keypads, handle or touch objects or controls
  • Walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
  • Reach above shoulders
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Climb a ladder, steps and/or scaffolding to work at a height of approximately 13 feet above the ground
  • Work in close/confined spaces
  • Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Specific hearing requirements of this job include ability to listen to telephone conversations as well as face-to-face conversations
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud
  • Work beyond a 40-hour workweek may be required.
